Malam Mohammed is Director, Energy Department at the BPE.
BRIEF BACKGROUND
Malam Audu Uba Mohammed was born on August 26, 1962. He attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and University of Jos where he obtained BSC Economics (1985) and MSC Economics (Money and Finance) (1990) respectively. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigerian (2005); and widely travelled even as he has attended many courses at home and abroad. An Economist by profession and has over 29 years post graduation experience.
CAREER INFORMATION
Before joining the Bureau, he worked with the Ministry of Education, Bauchi (Jan – Dec. 1987), Bauchi State Polytechnic, Bauchi (Jan. 1988 – Dec. 1991) and Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Jos, Plateau State (Jan 1992- May 1993).
ORGANISATION DEVELOPMENT/ACHIEVEMENTS
He joined the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) in 1993 after a stint in Academics. He has handled sector reforms, restructuring, procurement, commercialisation and project management issues as well as concession and privatization transactions across many sectors of the Nigeria economy. He has also handled numerous infrastructure assignments; key amongst are: the concession of 24 terminals of the Nigerian Ports, Project manager for the review and drafting of a National Transport Policy for Nigeria, involved in the drafting and review of the Nigerian Ports & Harbour Authority and the National Transport Commission Bills, the review of the Nigerian Railway, National Inland Waterways and Roads Fund and Road Board Draft Bills. He once, headed the Capital Market Unit of the Bureau.
Mallam Mohammed was also Transport Reform Manager for the USAID Trade and Transport component of MARKETS programme. He also served as senior strategic management and planning consultant for the bidding process for the concession of the container terminal of the Port of Liberia, Monrovia; amongst other consultancy services.
Apart from his rich experience in consultancy services, he was a member of the Presidential Committee on the Implementation of Federal Government White Paper on the alienation of Federal Government Lands and Properties, represented Government on the Board of Transnational Hotels and Tourism Services Limited (Transcorp Hilton Hotel) and currently serves as Alternate Director on the Board of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company Plc.

Hobbies include: agriculture, traveling, reading and is a very adventurous person.
