The Department ensure successful implementation of BPE’s mandate as provided in the Act in relation to all transactions (FGN Assets) within the Manufacturing & Services Sectors of the economy.

The Department is made up of three (3) Units, namely:

  1. Industries & Commerce Unit
  2. Financial Institutions Unit
  3. Digital & Creative Economy Unit

Core function of the Department includes:

  • Ensuring successful implementation of BPE’s mandate as provided in the Act in relation to all transactions in the Industries and Services sector.
  • Reform of Federal Government Public Enterprises in the Industries & Services Sector.
  • In line with the Bureau’s reform initiative for the Digital and Creative Sector, the Department has the mandate to partially commercialise Government-owned enterprises this sector.
  • Implementing the Federal Government’s reform, restructuring and modernisation of the Nigeria’s postal sector, specifically the modernisation & restructuring of the nation’s Postal Sector – the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST).  The reforms are envisaged to align the Nigerian Postal Sector with global developments in information and communication technology, institutionalise commercial practices in NIPOST and deepen private sector participation in the industry.
  • Implementing the FGN’s liquidation program on the NITEL/MTEL in-liquidation, to ensure that the FGN’s properties (both core and non-core) are secured, protected and disposed successfully and the proceeds remitted to the FGN’s treasury.
  • Ensure robust engagement with external stakeholders in collaboration with the Stakeholder Relations Unit as it relates to transactions.
