EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) is a statutory corporate entity established as a key outcome of the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). It was created through the unbundling of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), as prescribed by the Electricity Act, 2023.

NISO is central to the BPE’s strategy to restructure and modernise Nigeria’s electricity sector. Its creation supports:

SCADA/EMS Management: Overseeing the deployment and maintenance of grid automation systems.
