About

UKNIAF is a technical assistance programme funded by the UK government and delivered by the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO). It aims to transform Nigeria’s capacity to plan, finance, deliver, and maintain climate-smart critical infrastructure.

Technical Assistance

They provide technical support in two component areas: Power and Infrastructure Finance.

Capacity Building

They also provide capacity-building intervention for relevant public sector officials.

Requirement

Based approved task orders, they can support the BPE.

Previous Interaction/Relationship

It has worked with the Nigeria government and the BPE since the early 2000. The programme is on its 3rd iteration, that commenced in October 2019 and would end in October 2025. A Mutual Accountability Framework (MAF) was signed with the BPE in June 2021. This covers work Task Orders:  To 1 (IF0012) – Nov. 2021- May 2022;
TO 2 (IF0015) – Sept. 2022 – Oct. 2025. Delivery pathway workshops were conducted
Series of PPP briefings/capacity building sessions with private sector members of NCP.

Current Engagement

Currently, the BPE is in talks with the UK NAIF over a Project Preparatory Facility; the UK NAIF is providing technical assistance for the Kano FTZ transaction in the I & PPP department of the Bureau and is providing capacity building support with PPP training.
