Saratu Hassan Gafai

Saratu Hassan Gafai is a seasoned accounting and audit professional with extensive experience in financial management, internal audit, and public enterprise reform. She currently serves as the Director Finance & General Services in the  Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), where she leads compliance oversight, risk management, and internal control systems to ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.

Over the course of her career, Saratu has held several key roles within BPE, spanning finance, audit, and enterprise restructuring. Her expertise includes financial reporting, audit planning, asset management, procurement verification, and stakeholder engagement with key institutions such as the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and external auditors. She has also contributed to major privatisation and infrastructure initiatives, including work with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and port sector reforms.

She is a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), with a strong background in continuous professional development through both international and local training in financial management, leadership, and public sector governance.

Saratu holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Kaduna Polytechnic and has built a career defined by strong analytical skills, integrity, and a commitment to improving financial systems and accountability within the public sector
