Introduction
Afam Power Plc and Afam Three Fast Power Limited are significant entities in Nigeria's power sector, both part of the Afam GenCo power plant complex.
The Afam Power Plant is situated in Okoloma Village, Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, approximately 40 km north of Port Harcourt. The plant includes five separate power plants (Afam I – V) with a combined installed capacity of 966 MW.
Afam Power Plc was one of the successor companies unbundled from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in 2003 and was acquired by Transcorp Group in 2020.
The brand new Afam Three Fast Power Plant which has an installed capacity of 240 MW, was also acquired by Transcorp Group in 2020. The acquisition of Afam GenCo by Transcorp Group increased its total installed capacity to nearly 2000 MW. Transcorp is working towards recovering the full capacity of the Afam GenCo plants.
