BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc (CCNN) was incorporated in 1962 and commenced production in 1967 with an initial installed capacity of 100,000 metric tonnes per annum (mt/pa) at the Kalambaina plant. The need to meet the increasing demand for cement necessitated the expansion of the Plant with the commissioning of a second line with an installed capacity of 500,000mt/pa in 1985. Soon afterwards, i.e., mid 1986, the first line was abandoned due to it uneconomic mode of operation; thus, leaving the plant with a rated output of only 500,000mt/pa. CCNN was privatized through the Core Investor sale strategy in October, 2000 to Damnaz Company Limited (BUA GROUP). The company was handed over to the Core Investor in 2000.
