CORE DUTIES

Industries & Services Department is entrusted with the responsibility of reforming non-performing Public Enterprises (PEs) for optimal performance, which includes:

  1. Reforming, Restructuring, deregulation, and Privatisation Programme in the Communications Sector in Nigeria.
  2. Divestment and Privatization of Federal Government Public Enterprises in the industries sector.
  3. In line with the Bureau’s reform initiative for the Media Sector, the Department has the mandate to partially commercialise government-owned Media enterprises.
  4. Implementing the Federal Government’s reform, restructuring and modernisation of the postal sector in Nigeria, specifically the modernisation & restructuring of the nation’s Postal Sector – the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST). The reforms are envisaged to align the Nigerian Postal Sector with global developments in information and communication technology, institutionalise commercial practices in NIPOST and deepen private sector participation in the industry.
